as a member of a socialist youth group.

Professional training: car mechanic.

January 1938 - January 1939 International brigades in the Spanish Civil War, then detention camps of St. Cyprien and Vannes (France), arrested by the Gestapo in France and transported via Paris (Santé prison) to Graz. January 1941 via Vienna (Police Detention Center) transported to the Dachau concentration camp. Then Flossenbürg concentration camp (summer 1944 - April 1945).

Return to Austria. Joined the police service in Vienna to build a democratic police.
